We believe the same thing. Our oldest ...Excellent! We believe the same thing. Our oldest is 4 years old and she is very excited about Christmas this year. I decided years before we had children that I would not let my children believe that Santa is real. My take on this issue has been this; We teach the children that Santa is real, and you cannot see him. We also teach them that God is real and you cannot see Him either. When they find out that Santa is not real, what are they going to think about God? 'He must not be real either.' That is not what I want my children to think. I must admit that I never thought about it in the way of lying. That is true! Yet another reason to add to my list of why I don't teach my children that Santa is real.
